@DDOE_DC: Sustainable DC First Year Progress Report Community Event | April 22, 2014 @ 6PM

Please join us for the upcoming Sustainable DC community event, and share this information widely with your constituents. Please don’t hesitate to contact us directly at sustainable.future@dc.gov or (202) 442-7600 if you have any questions.

On Earth Day next Tuesday, April 22nd, please join Mayor Gray for the Sustainable DC First Year Progress Report and Community Action Fair, featuring nine community organizations and additional Sustainable DC partner agencies.

Be ready to take action to make our city more sustainable–you’ll be able to sign up for volunteer opportunities and programs on site. The event is 6:00-8:30 pm at the Langley Education Campus (101 T Street NE) closest to the NoMa-Gallaudet U and Rhode Island Avenue Metro stations on the Metro Red Line.

Mayor Gray will review our significant progress from the first year, and also the challenges we still face. Copies of the SDC First Year Progress Report will be available, reviewing progress on all 143 actions in the Sustainable DC Plan.

The Progress Report will be followed by a lightening round of 3-minute pitches from the nine community organizations below on why and how you should get involved with their good work. We’ll be holding more events like this in the future, so if your organization wants to participate, please let us know at sustainable.future@dc.gov.

  • Anacostia Watershed Society
  • Capital Area Food Bank
  • Casey Trees
  • DC Sun
  • DC Sustainable Energy Utility
  • Going Green Today Do It for DC! Challenge
  • Groundwork Anacostia
  • Neighborhood Farm Initiative
  • Washington Area Bicyclist Association

An open-house COMMUNITY ACTION FAIR follows, so you can sign up with these organizations and with District agency programs like urban farming, green power, and the new “Love Your Block” Initiative of ServeDC.

Please RSVP here. Tell your friends and see you next Tuesday!
